- A plain-old sponge and a micro-fiber mit
- I use the sponge for the wheels, engine, and anything else that might get road-grime on it.
- The mit is for bodywork and windshield.
- The sponge and mit never share the same bucket! I used to work in a car detailing shop, and this was a stoning offense.
- Original Bike Spirits
- I always have a can of this and a micro-fiber cloth with me. Do not spray directly on any surface to be cleaned. It contains distillates that will render most adhesives useless. Always spray it on the micro-fiber cloth!
- Homemade Windshield Cleaner (courtesy of CalSci Windshields)
- Makes about one liter of cleaning solution
- 1/2 cup = 100ml ammonia (double this if you have a lot of bugs)
- 2 cups = 400ml isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol
- 1.5 tsp = 8ml car wash detergent (don't substitute dish soap or laundry detergent)
- 2 cups = 500ml water
- If you don't want to play home chemist, go to WalMart and buy a gallon of Peak Windshield Cleaner (blue), about $1, and a gallon of Peak Bug Remover / RainX (green), about $1.50. Mix them 50-50 and use that on your motorcycle and in your car.
- Mean Green Degreaser
