The drive from Spokane to Banff National Park was pretty uneventful. I stopped in Cranbrook, BC at a place called Boston Pizza, and the bartender told me that I just had to visit Johnston Canyon. It wasn't on my list, but after Googling it, why not.
I had to pass through Kootenay National Park to get to Banff. FYI - Canada charges a daily use fee for thier park system. Immediately after you enter the park you have to cut through a canyon that almost canopies the road. There is a place called Radium Hot Springs just on the other side. I didn't stop.
Intead, I continued on to Johnston Campground. It was $15 CAD to camp. I could have also purchased a fire permit for an additional $8, which included ask the wood you want to burn. The US park system should take note. Yellowstone was charging $8 USD for one cubic meter of wood. In Canada, there is a huge pile of split wood that people pull from, and I mean huge, probably 30 cords laying there for the taking.
Their facilties are pretty awesome too. They're heated!
I pitched camp and hit the sack.
