Four Corners and Alaska

One of my to-do items is a motorcycle ride to the four corners of the United States of America. I've been mulling the idea for several years, and I finally decided that the time is now. No more putting it off. I'm going to do it! Why not throw in Alaska too? Sure.

Where to start...?

This journey is significant in both time & distance. I'm likely to encounter all types of conditions from heat, cold, sunshine, rain, great road surfaces & bad. I think substantial forethought is in order. A few of the many considerations are:

• What route do I ride?
• Do I plot a general route with weekly waypoints, or do I plan meticulously?
• Where am I going to sleep - hotel or camp?
• What equipment do I pack?
• What tools might I need?
• What if my motorcycle breaks down?
• What about riding in Canada?
  • Insurance
  • Weapons
  • Wildlife

Those are but a few outstanding items that I think of right off-the-cuff. More importantly, what goals do I want to accomplish on this ride?

  • Four Corners of the United States of America
    • Madawaska, ME
    • Blaine, WA
    • San Ysidro, CA
    • Key West, FL
  • Every state in the lower 48
  • Yellowstone
  • Alaska
  • Be in Sturgis on 04 AUG 2016
• No interstates
• Leave 01 JUN 2016 and return by 31 AUG 2016
• Hotel stay at least once a week
