Or is it bigger? Maybe that too.
First thing in the morning, I stopped at a gas station to fuel up, and guess what?! My credit card was declined. !@#$!@#$!@#$! I called my bank and was informed that I had been misinformed. The new card had been issued, and the card in my possession had been deactivated. Talk about pissed off. I was livid! Luckily, I had some cash-in-reserve to tide me through until I arrived at my buddy's house in case of an emergency, which this situation qualified in my book.
I thought California was hot at 113 F. Texas was 106 F, and with the added humidity, it was near unbearable. Man, it was !@#$ hot! I stopped twice to soak my shirt in cool water only to be bone dry within the hour down the interstate.
As I pulled into my buddy's driveway, I scanned for a package that was nowhere to be found - not by the front door, not in the mailbox, not anywhere. My bank said that the package had been delivered at 12:30 that afternoon. Becoming even more livid, I demanded that they reactivate the card in my possession so I could buy some fuel. As I drove down the lane about an eighth of a mile, I noticed a FedEx package on the neighbor's front porch. It was my card. Damn FedEx! After some deliberation, the bank activated the new card, and that situation was put to bed.
I noticed that the front door of the house was open. Turns out, the deadbolt plate was half unscrewed, so I whipped out my handyman skills and fixed the front door. It was the least I could do in return for a place to crash.
Later that night, my buddy arrived from a business trip. We caught up on what had been going on and crashed pretty late.
